So what is workstation?

Workstation is a Derby City Partnership Project led by Derby City Council, working with Jobcentre Plus, Derbyshire Learning & Skills Council and Westfield and is supported by Derby Community Network and Derby Millennium Network. Funding to develop this project has been supplied by Derby & Derbyshire Economic Partnership and Single Regeneration Budget 6 (SRB6) and URBAN11.

Workstation has been established to identify development opportunities across Derby City, work with key agencies such as training providers and voluntary and community organisations to ensure appropriate training is in place so that when these developments are advertising their vacancies there is a pool of skilled people to fill these jobs. The construction of Westfield Derby is the first of these developments.

The workstation team have been working with training providers and their funders to ensure that there is sufficient retail and hospitality training, primarily aimed at the unemployed residents of Derby City for the estimated 2850 new jobs. workstation has also been working with local community and voluntary organisations to identify priority residents to ensure that they have access to this training.

The CityScape MasterPlan gives Workstation the opportunity to roll out this model to many other occupational sectors over the next 10 years.
